Or just pick them up and start all over again? Just worried that she’s making an association with being held while she sleeps. Maybe we’ll try intensively this weekend and if no luck then give it a week or two until she’s a little older. I’m wondering if maybe she’s still a little young, too. Maybe I need to wait until she’s almost almost asleep first? Earlier was the first time she didn’t completely lose it when I put her in there. I suggest that you can shush, pat, touch and use comforting words, but you do it for only 1. Also, I find it hard to get her calm enough to even attempt the shush pat because the minute I place her in there awake albeit calm she cracks it. Over set intervals of time, you go back in and comfort your baby. When you return to your little one, comfort/shush/pat your baby for a minute or so to calm them. We keep trying to push her to 1 hour 20 but she’s not having a bar of it: screams, red eyes, fidgety, yawns, rubs eyes, etc. The Shush-Pat is a good no cry approach to teaching them to sleep with assistance and suitable from 6 weeks to 7 months of age. Also, her awake window is still around and hour and 15 mins. I managed to do it for the first time earlier, but like a few of you have said, I feel like her awake window was spot on. How to do it: Feed, burp, and change your baby, putting them down while still awake. In less than a week (in most cases), PU/PD will have your baby's sleep issues fixed, regardless of personality. Keep your hands on baby’s chest and wait a few seconds to see how baby reacts. It’s good to hear that it works for some, at least. This is sometimes called the shush, pat sleep training method. The key to the Baby Whisperer Method is being there for your child and teaching how to get baby to sleep in the crib, stay asleep, and put herself back to sleep. ![]()
